The Great Aberdeen Pig Out has partnered with the SD Fairs & Celebrations Association to be a regional site for a state sanctioned youth talent contest. The winner of this preliminary regional contest will go on to compete against other regional winners in the State Competition held in Mitchell SD at the Corn Palace on August 29th. State award winners will receive a share of $1000.00 and trophies.
Categories include female solo, male solo, vocal group, band/instrumental group, instrumental solo, dance solo, dance group, and variety. Contestants can only enter one category. A panel of judges will determine the winners and awards will be presented to the top 3 overall winners.
Deadline to enter is June 1, 2010. Age limits are 13-19 at the time of performance. Acts should only run 3 minutes in length. Contestants do not have to be residents of South Dakota to enter. An entry form, rules, waver, definition of categories and professional entertainer is available on line at www.aberdeendowntown.org.
